The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) received a generous donation of HK$1.3 million from the Lions Clubs International District 303, Hong Kong and Macao, China.  The donation will provide bursaries or seed funds for THEi students and graduates who aspire to start their entrepreneurial journey. To recognise the support of the Lions Clubs, THEi renames the “Innov8 Enterprise Start-up Centre” on its Chai Wan campus “THEi・Lions Clubs Innov8 Enterprise Start-Up Centre” (the Centre), a donation and plaque unveiling ceremony is on April 11, 2023.

This donation marks District 303’s first time supporting enterprising start-ups in Higher Education. District 303 sincerely thank Lion Eva Fung Wah LEUNG, Lion Man Tim CHEUNG, Lion Louis Kin Chung CHOW, Lion Roy Wai Lun YIP, Lions Club of Happy Valley and Lions Club of Kau To Shan for their generous donations and visionary support for a local tertiary institution to enterprise start-ups, conduct applied research and foster technology transfer. Both parties look forward to this collaboration providing more opportunities and resources for THEi students and graduates, enabling those who aspire to enter the innovation and technology industry to realize their dreams, and contributing to the applied research and economic development of Hong Kong, Macao, and mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area.

The plaque unveiling ceremony was officiated by Lion Henry SHIN, District Governor of Lions Clubs International District 303 Hong Kong and Macao, China; Lion Brian SHEEHAN, International President of Lions Clubs International; Dr. Michael WANG Jianguo, Deputy Executive Director of the Vocational Training Council (VTC); Dr. Albert CHEUK Chun-yin, Director (Corporate and Enterprise) of THEi; and Professor Hon. William WONG Kam-fai, MH, Member of the Legislative Council. In addition, over 100 guests attended the ceremony, including PIP – Lion Wing Gun TAM, PID Lion Teresa MANN, district cabinet officers, representative from fellow Lions Clubs, THEi faculty members, heads of operation units, and student ambassadors .
