In 1993, the Lions Education Foundation was incorporated under the guidance of District Governor Lion Stephen Chow with an aim to broaden Hong Kong Lions commitment and services in the territories educational field.
The Primary objects of the Foundation are :
1. To promote education and to arrange for dissemination of information and knowledge of all kinds by all manners or means of communication.
2. To establish, operate and maintain non-profit making schools to provide for studies, training, research and development in science, technology, arts, social science, commerce, industry and other subjects of learning.
Upon the successful formation of the Lions Education Foundation, which is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, the Foundation's Directors have resolved unaminously to take up the sponsorship to establish and operate a prevocational school in Kwai Chung granted by the Education Department of the Hong Kong Government.
In the fall of 1995, the construction and set up of the school was completed and was granted a licence to operate by the Education Department under the name of Lions Prevocational School.
To further enhance the Lions Education Foundation's commitment to serve and maintain this non-profit making school, a school management committee comprised of District 303's past District Cabinet members is formed with the special responsibility to manage the school.
With the kind consent of the Education Department, the Lions Prevocational School is now renamed as Lions College, and the number of students and staffs in the College has now risen to more than 300 and 17 respectively. By 2002, the total staff and student population will reach 1,000. The atmosphere in the College among all teachers and students are genuine and sincere, and are all striving forward diligently to meet the target and expection as set by the management committee, Lions and the society.
With the kind donation received from Lions of District 303 and under the effort from the principle donor Lion Ho Tak Sum from Lions Club of The City, Lions Clubs International Ho Tak Sum Primary School, located in Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, has now begun to intake students and will commence its operation in September 1999. This 30 class - roomed primary school is fully equipped with the latest requirements as imposed by the Education Department and will certainly meet the need and demand as required by the local residents and to achieve the success that it is destined for.
With the works of the Foundation are being participated enthusiastically by the Lions of District 303, it can be predicted with confidence and pride that the educational services as provided will continue to flourish and improve towards the aim that is destined for.
