As early as the 1970s, the Lions Clubs International District 303 – Hong Kong & Macao (referred to as the 303 district) has already worked hard for the Hong Kong blood donation campaign. Starting from 2015, the "Lions Territory-wide Blood Donation Day" is held every year to mobilize Lions from all districts and Hong Kong citizens to support blood donation.

In 2016, the Hong Kong Red Cross invited the Lions to donate a blood donation vehicle. In June 2017, Director Governor Grace M.W. Fung (2016-17) signed a letter of intention for donation. The entire fundraising project has received strong support from lions clubs and Lions of the 303 District. Together with $100,000 grant of the Lions Clubs International Foundation, in just half a year, it has raised nearly $7 million. In addition to the donation of a new "Lion's Mobile Blood Donation Vehicle", the balance can also be used to sponsor three supportive mobile blood vehicles.  The "Lion Mobile Blood Donation Vehicle" was launched and commenced its service in April 2019, replacing the mobile blood donation vehicle that has been in service for 17 years.
