Dear Fellow Lions,
I am honored to become the 2019-2020 District Governor of Lions Clubs International District 303 Hong Kong & Macao, China, a district full of energy and passion.
The main theme of our International President Dr. Choi Jung-Yul this year is “Greater good through diversity”. Lions don’t just serve the world. We represent it. Under President Choi’s leadership, we’ll unite clubs and communities around the world because greater good can only be achieved when we join forces toward common goals. President Choi’s programs and initiatives will focus on the following four key elements:
1. Strengthening membership through diversity;
2. Expanding service impact globally;
3. Supporting our global foundation, LCIF; and
4. Empowering every Lion as a leader.
At the district level, we will focus on one of our major service areas, YOUTH. During this lionistic year, our district will organize a series of service events targeting youth as our beneficiaries, youth as our partners, and empowering youth as service leaders.
At individual club level, I have formed a task force to achieve our global causes. This task force aims to facilitate our clubs to provide services around our five global causes of VISION, HUNGER, CHILDREN CANCER, DIABETES and ENVIRONMENT. I sincerely request all our Club Presidents and members to support our global cause initiatives, illustrating to the community that we are indeed a part of a global force, a part of the world’s largest service organization.
Last but not least, the district will also support our 2019-2020 NEW VOICES INITIATIVE to the fullest extend, to increase the number of women, young adults and underrepresented populations within our association. It features a diverse group of Lions who strive for excellence in one of four areas: Service, Membership, Leadership, and Marketing.
I humbly urge all fellow Lions to join me in this wonderful journey of services. “We Serve” is not only our philosophy, it is a belief that we can act on together everyday.
Yours in Lionism,
Lion Alexander Wong
District Governor (2019-2020)
